Anime Expo was the stage for the reveal of Resident Evil: Survival Unit, a survival horror game with real-time strategy elements designed for mobile.

The project is a collaboration between Aniplex, studio JOYCITY and Capcom, which owns the series. It's coming to iOS and Android.

Where you can play it

Launch is planned for North America, Europe, Japan, South Korea and other parts of Asia, so players across Europe and the Americas will have access from day one.

Next steps

The companies announced a dedicated showcase on 11 July with more on gameplay, characters and timing. The reveal came with a first trailer.

Survival Unit is one of Capcom's most serious attempts to bring Resident Evil to mobile with an original game rather than a straight port. Mixing survival-horror tension with base management and squad combat is a risky bet, but it fits what works in app stores today.
